How the Internet and Network Marketing Have Come Together -- Finally!
August 6, 2008 10:47 PM
While affiliate marketing and e-commerce have been thriving for years, network marketers were limited online.

The Internet lacked the sophistication needed for average 'non-techies' to freely interact and develop relationships. Systems were available but they were canned and impersonal, which doesn't hold up well in network marketing.

This 'old' Internet was just too clunky for network marketing.

But this has all changed.

With the advent of Web 2.0 and social media marketing the Internet has become the perfect platform for network marketers to exchange ideas and information freely and in a way that relationships can thrive.

Average people with limited skills on the computer can give value, exchange information and ideas, share videos, articles, build fan clubs and audiences and build lists... and have the true opportunity to reach thousands and even hundreds of thousands of people at practically no cost.

With such power at the fingers of so many, and with the personalized free-flowing exchange of ideas and value, the Internet has become a way for network marketers to attract interested prospects to them, while monetizing their business like we see in traditional marketing and most other industries.

It's called attraction marketing—and if you're serious about succeeding in any business, network marketing or anything else, you will be learning it. It will soon be as important to a business as a telephone.

What is Internet Network Marketing?
August 10, 2008 6:45 PM
Internet Network Marketing is a strategy used by distributors to build a network marketing organization using the internet.

These strategies primarily center around how to prospect distributors for your network marketing business online.

There are three strategies that make up internet network marketing.

Each strategy is a completely different approach to internet network marketing.

Because these strategies are all referred to as internet network marketing they are often confused with one another.

The first strategy is internet communications prospecting.

With this strategy you use the internet as a communications tool to communicate with prospects online about your network marketing business.

How does this work?

Let's say you meet a prospect at the gas station.

You exchange business cards.

You then email the prospect your company web site so the prospect can take a look at it.

Another example, let's say you purchased some business opportunity leads. You load the leads up in an auto-responder. The auto-responder sends the prospects emails encouraging them to go to your web site.

This is internet communications prospecting.

Internet communications prospecting is probably the most basic and crudest form of prospecting.

In this form of prospecting you are still relying on traditional network marketing strategies to build your network marketing business.

The only difference is that you are using the internet to support your marketing efforts.

The second strategy is internet advertising prospecting.

With this strategy you use the internet as an advertising tool to promote your business to prospects and generate leads for your network marketing business online.

How does this work?

Let's say you create an ad on the Google pay per click search engine network promoting your business opportunity.

The ad includes a link to your network marketing company's replicated web site, which contains a video promoting your business opportunity.

Another example, suppose you purchase a banner ad on a high traffic web site.

When people click on that ad, it takes them to a web site which promotes your business opportunity.

This is internet advertising prospecting.

Internet advertising prospecting is obviously more advanced than internet communications prospecting.

In this form of internet marketing, you are actually using the internet as a lead generation tool.

The benefit is that you are now taking steps to get prospects to come to you instead of chasing prospects.

However, it's still not the ultimate form of internet network marketing.

The third strategy is internet attraction marketing.

With this strategy, you use the internet as a prospecting, qualification and revenue generating tool to generate prospects for your network marketing business.

How does this work?

Let's say you add friends to your profile on Myspace.

On your profile page you offer a free report that teaches how you made $1000 last month in your network marketing business without sponsoring anybody.

Another example, suppose you posted to a discussion board about network marketing with a link at the bottom of your post promoting a free video that reveals "Why the leads companies hate your guts and would do anything to put you out of business."

This is internet attraction marketing.

Internet attraction marketing is the best method of internet network marketing.

In this form of internet marketing, you are able to limit your time to talking to the best prospects for your business.

This is because you use the information products as a sorting and pre-qualification method.

Prospects that take the time to request free content related to building their business are more serious prospects than prospects that respond to a generic ad promising to show them how to make more money.

Prospects that actually PURCHASE information related to building their business are even more serious prospects than any other type of prospect you could come across.

So make sure you understand the difference between the different ways you can prospect using internet network marketing.

If you prefer to use the most effective way, you should use the internet attraction marketing method.

Is Internet Network Marketing a Complete Waste of Time to Build Your MLM?
July 19, 2008 7:13 PM
"You're wasting your time..."

"Don't buck the system..."

"Just plug into our simple duplicatable system and you'll have success. Don't waste your time with that internet junk..."

Does any of these statements sound familiar?

They probably do if you've asked your upline what their opinion is regarding internet network marketing.

In fact, depending on the company you are with, there is a possibility that you aren't even allowed to market your opportunity on the internet.

Many companies are firm on their approach to building the business using traditional network marketing techniques.

If you try to suggest anything else, you will be accused as a rebel.

Why would your upline and your network marketing company tell you internet network marketing is a complete waste of time?

Besides lack of understanding, which is usually the most common reason, unfortunately there are two other reasons why your upline and your network marketing company might not be as supportive about your desires to build the business online.

From the company standpoint prospecting online is extremely difficult to regulate.

Information travels so fast there's no way the company can effectively monitor what is being said in marketing messages.

Network marketing itself is a highly regulated industry and many of the product industries that our companies participate in are also highly regulated industries.

If a network marketing distributor begins making claims that violate regulatory guidelines, the entire company can be negatively affected by this.

This is why many of our network marketing companies frown upon internet network marketing.

Another reason unfortunately is a conflict of interest.

For some network marketing companies and even some top ranking distributors in these network marketing companies, the marketing system and the tools used for marketing is a huge profit stream for the company.

In these network marketing companies, the meetings, the trainings, the marketing tools and the conventions serve as a huge profit stream.

In some cases the money made from this system exceeds the money made from the actual business itself.

Think about it...

If you were making a six or seven figure business off meetings, trainings, tools and events, would you want your distributors to plug into a system that could theoretically eliminate the need for them to go to meetings, trainings, plug into tools and events?

Unless you are truly concerned about your distributor's success, the answer is absolutely not!

Even if those distributors have success with this system, you are going to take a huge cut in income from the organization not supporting the system.

The fact of the matter is internet network marketing isn't a waste of time at all.

There are numerous success stories of distributors who struggled in the industry having little to no success at all following the traditional system of network marketing.

However, once they learned the strategies and techniques of internet network marketing, they were able to turn it all around.

You could be the next success story!

To be fair to some of the leaders, there are some legitimate concerns about internet network marketing.

For instance, many people mistakenly believe that with internet network marketing you will never have to talk to another prospect again and your internet system will recruit everyone for you.

This is a false misconception.

You will still have to talk to prospects and you will still have to work the numbers.

The difference is that you will be dealing with more serious prospects because your internet network marketing system will pre-qualify the prospects for you.

The other concern you need to watch out for as well is that prospecting on the internet can be a big waste of time if you don't know what you are doing.

Too many distributors work on low payoff activities on the internet like playing with their web site background and arguing on message boards all day.

If you want to be successful in internet network marketing, you need to spend the majority of your time actually getting your marketing message in as many locations and formats as possible and calling the prospects your system qualifies for you to gauge their interest level.

Otherwise, you will prove your upline and company right if they are currently unsupportive of the internet network marketing method.

Internet Network Marketing Prospecting Dos and Don'ts
August 12, 2008 3:54 PM
Internet network marketing prospecting is a very effective strategy for building a nationwide or even worldwide organization. However there are many distributors that have no idea how to do it effectively. Here are some internet network marketing prospecting dos and don'ts.

Prequalify Your Prospects

Do — Use a marketing system to prequalify your prospects.

When prospects are considering network marketing business opportunities there are various degrees of seriousness about getting started. There are some prospects that if they find the right opportunity will get started right away. There are other prospects that will never get started in any business opportunity.

Using a marketing system can help you pre-qualify your prospects. This allows you to spend maximum time with the prospects who are very serious about getting started in an opportunity and little to no time with the prospects that aren't looking to make a commitment for any reason.

Look for systems that track prospects who buy related information products, prospects who open your emails and prospects who visit your web site repeatedly.

No SPAM

Don't — Send unsolicited commercial email, also known as SPAM. First off, it doesn't work. The people who make big money by SPAMMING make it for generating website impressions not for selling products.

Most SPAM these days ends up in SPAM folders, not being read.

There are also many ways sending SPAM can get you in serious trouble.

Your internet service provider and website host provider probably have strong policies against SPAM.

If you are caught sending unsolicited commercial email you could have your internet service account cancelled and your website and email services shut down.

Your network marketing company may also cancel your distributor agreement because of SPAM complaints.

Use Attraction Marketing Strategies

Do — Set up prospecting systems that use attraction marketing to bring your prospects to you.

When prospects seek you out that gives you a stronger level of posture and power in the recruiting process.

Therefore you want to set up strategies and systems that bring prospects to you. For example, if you write an article and post it to your blog, that article may attract a prospect that becomes a lead for you.

When a prospect becomes a lead for you, the prospect has initiated the conversation. Now you can impose a stronger level of posture because it is the prospect that has sought out your help.

Posture is a big part of the recruiting process so the more you can do to get posture in your favor instead of against you, the better job you are going to do at recruiting and the more prospects you are going to recruit.

Keep to Your Business Budget

Don't — Spend more money promoting your business online than you can afford based upon your budget and your network marketing company's compensation plan.

For example, if you make $100 every time you sign up a new distributor, you cannot pay $5 a click on pay per click ads. With that type of budget you will only be able to generate 20 clicks before you are already losing money.

Instead, find cheaper keywords that you can advertise for that are still related to the product offering or business opportunity you are trying to promote.

You can also focus your efforts on prospecting strategies that don't require any money for you to use. Strategies such as article writing, social networking web sites and press releases allow you to generate prospects for your business without spending money.

Keeping these simple dos and don'ts in mind can help ensure your internet network marketing strategies for prospecting work at the highest level. This, in turn, will help you achieve success in building your business.

Online Marketing for Your Business vs. Funded Proposal Marketing
August 11, 2008 5:23 PM
When you hear the term "internet network marketing" you probably think of a strategy that allows you to build your network marketing business online. However, what many people don't realize is that there are two very distinct schools of thought when it comes to how internet network marketing should be done.

The two schools of thought for our purposes here, will be referred to as follows:

a) Online Marketing for Your Business

and...

b) Funded Proposal Marketing.

So what is the difference between these two schools of thought when it comes to building a network marketing business online?

Online Marketing

Marketing your business online is exactly what it sounds like. This is when you take your network marketing business and you market it using online marketing strategies. With this approach you are marketing the products or services your network marketing company offers, the business opportunity, or both.

For example, I did a search on Google for the keyword "network marketing opportunity." In the results, I came across an ad with the title "Top Network Marketing Opp." The web page that followed advertised a network marketing opportunity with a form that you could fill out if you wanted more information.

This is exactly the way most network marketing distributors build their businesses when they come online.

While this can work for some people, many people will find themselves struggling to build a business online using this type of approach. The reason is because for many distributors, the compensation plan simply doesn't pay enough initially to cover the cost of advertising online.

For example, suppose you get paid $10 a month for each customer you sign up to a monthly auto-ship of your company's product. You also get anywhere from $1 to $2 a month for each customer your team signs up through 7 levels of sponsorship. There's no way you are going to make a profit when you are competing with distributors who are marketing $5000 seminars for which they get paid $2500 in commission.

This is where the second approach to building a network marketing business on the internet comes into play. This is referred to as "Funded Proposal Marketing."

Funded Proposal Marketing

How does this work?

Instead of marketing your products, services or opportunity online, with funded proposal marketing you market an informational related product that teaches people how to accomplish a specific goal related to your business.

For example, if you are leading with the product that helps people gain more energy during the day, you could offer an information product such as "7 Steps to Getting More Energy During the Day."

Your product could be a written report, an audio or even a video.

Prospects that visit your web page from your various internet marketing strategies would then fill out their name and email address to get the free information product.

Your free information product would then promote a longer, more in-depth information product that you would charge for.

When the prospect requests more information on your website, you should also have a series of follow-up emails that not only promotes your paid product but also promotes other products that are related to what it is you are offering.

These products don't have to be your products. They can be products in which you have an affiliate relationship and get paid if anyone you refer makes a purchase.

The strategy works the same if you are leading with the network marketing opportunity.

The only difference is that you would offer a product that teaches prospects how to experience the benefits that your network marketing company offers. For instance, you can develop a product that teaches people how to make $500 to $1000 in any network marketing business.

The benefit to using a funded proposal marketing strategy is that it allows you to make money whether people purchase your network marketing company products or not.

There are distributors who use this strategy to earn thousands of dollars a month even if no one purchases a product or joins their network marketing business opportunity.

Get the Most Out of Your Internet Network Marketing Strategy

If you are simply using online marketing strategies for your products or business opportunity, the only way you make money is if someone becomes a customer or distributor.

As you can see there is a big difference between online marketing for your business and using a funded proposal. I recommend that you use a funded proposal for your online marketing. You put forth the same effort, for a much larger return.

What's the Best Way to Learn Internet Network Marketing Strategies?

What is the best way to learn internet network marketing strategies when there are so many different strategies that can be used to prospect online? One of the biggest challenges for newcomers is choosing how to go about it.

You can write articles. You can create online videos. You can create a blog. You can submit press releases. You can market on social networking web sites.

In addition to all of the various marketing strategies to learn, there are also other components that you need to learn as well. For example, if you don't have a good lead capture page set up, it doesn't matter what you use to draw the prospects to your web site, they won't opt in.

Since there is so much to learn when it comes down to internet network marketing strategies, what is the best way for a newcomer to this arena to learn how to implement these strategies effectively?

Internet Network Marketing Strategies Must Be Learned One at a Time

The best way to learn internet network marketing strategies is to learn them one at a time. You should try to leverage proven systems as much as possible, thereby leaving the only variable to be you. You should also stick to a single component that you can work on so that you know exactly where you need to improve if you aren't getting the results you want.

So for instance, if you are new to internet network marketing strategies, first find a system where most of the work is already done for you. This way all you have to focus on is learning one skill set and you can start to experience success much faster.

Implementing Proven Systems Like The Renegade Network Marketer or Magnetic Sponsoring

Plug into a system like The Renegade Network Marketer or Magnetic Sponsoring because these two systems are already proven.

If affiliates are having success making money with a system, what does this mean? It means that there's nothing wrong with the products, the sales pages or the auto responders that are associated with the system.

That means you don't have to spend time learning how to do these things at this point. All you need do is learn how to drive traffic to the web site and the system takes care of the rest.

Control Your Marketing Variables, Choose One Marketing Strategy

Once you have selected a system that you believe works for you, the next step is to select a marketing strategy. What many people do is select multiple marketing strategies and try to master them all at once. This is a mistake. Instead of trying to master a bunch of marketing strategies, stick to one and work on that.

Why should you focus on one marketing strategy? If you work on one strategy, you know exactly where your successes and failures are coming from. However, if you have multiple strategies, especially at the beginning, you will have no idea what's working or not in your business.

Once you have mastered a strategy, which means you are generating leads, signing up new distributors and if you are using a funded proposal, you are making affiliate sales, you can now move on to a new marketing strategy. Eventually you will get to the point where you are making a ton of money off affiliate sales. It is at this point that you are ready to work on your own system and you can start to learn the other aspects of internet network marketing.
